Main Purpose
Under the supervision of the Clinical Officer, the incumbent will provide maternal health services at both the health unit and in the community.  To provide health services in the health Facility and outreach programmes.

Duties and Responsibilities
It shall be the duty of the Registered Midwife to:

1. Participate in continuous nursing coverage in BCC wards by receiving reports and effectively handing over to incoming staff.
2. Improve total care to mothers during pregnancy with the emphasis on identifying high-risk cases and provision of health education.
3. Conduct Antenatal clinics, postnatal care, and deliveries in the health unit.
4. Ensure that an aseptic technique is adhered to in carrying out deliveries and maintain the highest degree of cleanliness in the maternity area.
5. Provide total care to mothers during labour with emphasis on keeping proper records, use of drugs, and prevention of complications to mothers and babies.
6. Ensure that the baby’s air passages are clear. Assess and keep the baby warm, constantly wetting the umbilical cord, and carry out immunization.
7. Provide on-the-job training for Nursing Assistants.
8. Act as a link between the health unit and Traditional Birth Attendants.
9. Carry out community health activities as per health unit plans.
10. Strictly observe ethical practices.
11. Carry out the duties of a general enrolled nurse when necessary.
12. Prepare monthly reports for presentation to the Clinical Officer/ Doctor.
13. Carry out such duties as reasonably determined by the Clinical Officer
14. Report to the midwife in charge of maternal health services.
15. Attend morning devotion daily when on a morning shift, and the needs of the patient do not require your presence with them.
16. Be responsible for keeping the Bushikori Christian Centre vision.

Working Conditions
Hours of work divided over 2 shifts, Day duty (08:00 am to 6:00 Pm), Night duty (6:00 Pm to 8:00 am). You may work weekends and holidays.
