Our History
Bushikori Christian Centre was founded with a mission to transform lives by providing quality education, healthcare, and spiritual support to vulnerable communities in Uganda. Since its inception, the organization has grown significantly, impacting thousands of lives through its key programs.
Joshua Primary School, one of Bushikori’s flagship initiatives, has been offering accessible and affordable education since 1993. What started under a simple mango tree classroom has now developed into a fully registered and licensed institution under the Ministry of Education. The school has maintained high academic standards in the Mbale region, consistently ranking among the best-performing schools.
In response to community needs, Bushikori expanded its impact by establishing a medical center. Bushikori Medical Centre has been instrumental in improving maternal and child healthcare, offering essential services such as antenatal care, family planning, cervical cancer screening, and general medical consultations. In partnership with organizations like the Rotary Club of Kampala South and the Rotary Club of Mbale Metropolitan, Bushikori has also led campaigns to raise awareness and prevent hypertensive pregnancy disorders, reducing maternal and neonatal mortality.
Recognizing the need for early childhood education, Bushikori established a Nursery School in 2013. It started with just 14 children as a daycare center for working mothers and has now grown to over 150 children, providing a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Over the years, Bushikori has continued to improve its infrastructure to accommodate the growing needs of students and the community. The boarding section at Joshua Primary School has expanded to house 250 pupils, significantly reducing school dropouts and improving learning outcomes. Additionally, major projects like the Anne Leah Building extension and the construction of a new girls’ hostel have enhanced living conditions for students.
As Bushikori Christian Centre moves forward, it remains committed to its mission of serving the most vulnerable through education, healthcare, and community development. The organization continues to work with dedicated partners, volunteers, and supporters to create lasting change in Uganda.

Executive Directors’ Note
Amazing year with growth for bushikori
On behalf of Bushikori Christian Centre, the Board of Trustees, the Executive Board, our dedicated staff, and all the sponsored children, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to God for guiding us through this year. His grace has been abundant, and we are truly blessed.
I also want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us—through prayers, generous contributions, and unwavering dedication. Your kindness has made a significant impact, and we pray that God richly blesses you.
With support from the Australian Support Committee, we accomplished several key projects this year. The Anne Leah building extension was a major milestone, along with refurbishing old beds to prepare two new rooms for use in this wing. Additionally, we made great progress on the girls’ hostel, which has provided a safe and comfortable home for 146 girls since May 2023, under the care of two matrons.
As we continue forward, we are excited for a season of growth and transformation at Bushikori. We remain committed to enhancing our operations and expanding our impact, fulfilling our vision and mission in both word and deed.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.” – Numbers 6:24-26
